Robert Mosher Documentary

I first met Robert Mosher about 2 years ago when a world-wide contest was held to find a group to provide an artistic light installation for the San Diego Coronado Bridge. I realized that any architect who is selected to served as the designer for a major bridge in a major American city (the bridge is over 2 miles long and must allow for Navy warships to pass underneath), has to have an outstanding project portfolio, and an interesting story to tell. It also helped that finalist for the lighting of the bridge contest included teams that had provided, for example, light installations for international monuments such as The Eiffel Tower. After arranging to helm the Documentary, I sat with Robert to discuss roughly 30 of his more favored projects. I was blown away by the amount of work he has performed and the number of amazing people he has met and considers to be friends. Most importantly I was shocked that I had not heard about many people on the immediate periphery of Stars like Frank Lloyd Wright or Louis Kahn.As Robert worked with me and guided me through a few decades of work, I was blown away by the people he has known, the places where he has been and things he had done simply for himself and his love of Architecture.His story is beautiful American poetry regarding the manners of business, friendship and service. His story also provides a wonderful backdrop in observing the evolution of San Diego, California and even The U.S.A.Currently I am working with KICKSTARTER.com to raise some financing, and will also be seeking grants to aid in preparation of this important Documentary.

Work for Embrace.org

Embrace.org provides the San Diego, CA homeless and Veteran communities with food, clothing and refurbished homes. The organization and its founder have done an amazing job enlisting college students to serve as volunteers in this service. Periodically I follow Sean Sheppard (founder of Embrace) as he interacts with various communities in need. The two videos on youtube (one link is provided via this site) are well underlit, yet provide a rare insight into the world of social service, volunteerism and leadership which most of us rarely encounter.I have been hounding Sean to allow me to shoot a documentary of his story as he offers an education in serving the community which we all should EMBRACE.Periodically I also take corporate and personal photographs of Sean for his various business dealings.

A Few Past Projects

Work in this section includes, primarily, video related projects in which Ricci created/edited a piece after reviewing video footage provided to him. The iGun and the music video projects where captured by Ricci with the intent of creating quick and fun short works. There is a story behind the music video that is one of a kind. The art and photography piece provides various shots that Ricci has hand drawn, created in a 3d graphic program or taken with a camera.

Dido Brown STREET GAME DVD

CLICKING the image on the RIGHT will lead to video links for the DVD.This DVD project was plain fun and interesting. Dido Brown is a local (San Diego) Hip Hop/Rap artist who has managed to earn a better living selling and producing his own music than if he was with a record label. For the DVD, DIDO provided Ricci with roughly 8 hours of video tape to which Ricci added another 2-3 hours by having a videographer (Lou "2-Tense" Fontes) follow Dido and the Bonafide Camp as they sold their music in the streets from San Diego to LA. The DVD also includes footage of Dido performing in Japan and Vegas, behind the scenes on the Music Video shoot for "Take Em All Out" feat. Jay-O Felony and a memorial service for a respected Father Figure for many of South East Diego young brown males. Dido's album "Tales of a Young Brown Male" will always seem as an overlooked work of Hip Hop/Rap art. CLICKING the image on the RIGHT will take to to his videos.

Galinson Safari DVD

CLICKING the image on the right opens the DVD video page for the Galinson Safari.The Galinsons went on Safari. The patriarch, filmed hours of video on the trip and narrated every instant. Ricci helped edit the video down to an hour or so, removed most of the narration and added fun music and various transitions etc. The resulting DVD is a great example of how to edit and create a "vacation video" that anyone can watch and enjoy. Interesting video if you enjoy nature. Only a few clips of the DVD are provided. CLICKING the image on the right opens the DVD video page for the Galinson Safari.

Quartez The Comic DVD

CLICKING the image on the right will lead to the DVD video page.Ricci met Quartez while Quartez was working as a Mortgage Consultant/Salesman at a firm that has since vanished. At the time Quartez was working at night as an up and coming comedian and wanted to have a DVD created to provide to his fans. Quartez gave Ricci 4 or more hours of video footage from several stand-up performances along with footage that he had taken while out on his various adventures. The resulting DVD is a great example of "providing for yourself". Totally funny guy and a fun project to prepare. CLICKING the image on the right will lead to the DVD video page.

IL FATAS (no subtitles)

This short was created in 2001 and won two awards at the NYFV Festival. The awards were Best Score and Best Experimental Film. When the short was created the concept of "digital movies" was pretty much taboo and not very "user friendly" as it is today. In competition, "IL FATAS" regularly competed against true FILM shorts, yet held its own. At the time the short was created, Boldylocks Media Group's equipment was below the requirements of any editing software and transfer of the film to a computer resulted in many dropped frames. The interesting aspect of this process was the film was edited without any of the sound and at a rate of 12 seconds at a time to avoid computer crashes. All sound was edited separately and added later. "The Making Of" video is self explanatory.

ABOUT US

Boldylocks Media Group was founded in 1999-2000. In 2002, Boldylocks Media Group's short film "IL Fatas (no subtitles)" won awards for Best Experimental Film and Best Score, in the Short Film category, of the New York International Film and Video Festival. Richard "Ricci" Franklin -– Richard’s creativity is enhanced by a graduate education in microbiology and immunology. Richard has created, directed, edited and served as a cinematographer for several short films and DVD/Video projects, and functions as the creative arm of Boldylocks Media Group. He has served as writer, photographer, film maker, videographer, editor, sound engineer and general bouncing ball for every Boldylocks related project. Richard has been 100% helpful in aiding to overcome hurdles related to budgets, leading us in many of our lower budget yet high quality and vision projects.Rob Wickman - As lead vocalist and founder of the alternative hip-hop/rock band “Black Earth”, and a member of the “Black Rock Coalition” Rob has a track record for using his linguistic and performance talents creatively and successfully. His band, “Black Earth” (defunct), has opened for pop stars like “Living Colour” and his television appearances have included “Change of Heart”. Rob has written several tales and screenplays and now functions as the primary storyteller for Boldylocks Media Group. In his spare time he leads the band “Hi-Def Dynamite” as vocalist and lead guitar. Generally, Rob is relied upon to help focus projects for mass distribution based on a natural understanding of pop culture, second to none! His Law degree is a nice addition to the Group as well…April Bolds serves as a lead producer. April has acted in a variety of theatrical and television productions. Before heading to Hawaii, her last fun acting job was to play Denzel Washington's niece in the movie "The Antwone Fisher Story". April has a hands-on background in production from her years "on set". She has applied her Masters degree in Psychology to films, acting and consulting within the entertainment industry at companies such as Angel Studios (now RockStar Games West).

Need a photographer? Have a project and need an editor? In need of a videographer?Ricci edited all of the projects on this site and took or directed the production of the photographs/images on this site. As you can tell from the site gallery, there arent too many styles he can not shoot: portrait, graphic design, artistic, journalistic.......He has over 10 years of experience using a variety of computer aided video and photographic editing software. He is also available to consult on projects looking to get the most from a budget.
Do you have hours of video footage from a meeting or a vacation which you would like to show to others or simply enjoy yourself without dealing with fast forwarding/rewinding etc.?Ricci has created DVDs for clients with the same problems. A few of the DVDs can be viewed in our DVD section. Generally all you need to do is provide the footage and a dream, Ricci will do the rest.
Do you have a project funded and underway but find that you dont have a crew?Ricci has served as director, editor and writer on more more than a few projects and depending on the project itself and/or his availability, he is more than willing to enjoy the task of working with other artists in seeing their projects through to fruition. PLUS, all of the other services provided can be added in aiding the completion of the project (editing, directing, art production, lighting, etc.).
